Perfect Match is one of the levels in Fall Guys. It is a LOGIC level and was first introduced in the beta version.

Course description

Standard version

Perfect match consists of 16 square tiles displayed in a 4x4 grid. It alternates between 3 rounds of tile memorisation and 3 rounds of finding a safe tile. The game chooses out of 6 fruits (apple, banana, cherry, grape, orange, watermelon) and randomly determines the pattern across a 4-by-4 platform of tiles.

Tiles will flash on and off for 14 seconds showing what fruit they correspond to. Following that, after a short wait, the safe fruit is displayed on the large displays and players are given 5 (displayed as 4) seconds to move to a safe fruit.

The first round will usually have a selection of 2 fruit; the second round will usually have a selection of 4 fruit; the third and final round usually utilises all 6 fruit. The survivors of the third round qualify for the next round.

In total, all these rounds combined makes this round have a duration of 1:20.

Bots

Perfect Match was one of the few rounds that can be selected should the lobby be filled with bots (which were introduced in the UI Update). The variant selected is always normal Perfect Match.

As of Season 6 (Legacy), this round can no longer be selected with bots.

Course strategy

Standard version

It's worth noting that you do not need to memorise the whole platform; just remember the locations of one safe tile for each fruit that are preferably adjacent to each other (whether laterally or diagonally). Be warned that sometimes the tiles can get very crowded, so to minimise the chances of falling off, grab and hold on to another player. A handy trick is that once a fruit appears on the large screens, it will NOT appear again on them, so you'll only have to memorize three fruits instead of five on the third challenge. This seems to no longer be the case and the same fruit may be chosen twice in a row.

However, some people will take advantage of grabs and either shove unsuspecting newbies off the map prior to the game starting, or shove them off a platform with lots of players.

Additionally, players can take advantage of crowds, simply running to them so they do not need to memorize the fruits. This can backfire as some trollish players will intentionally go to the wrong tiles and form a crowd, then dump them all off the map at the same time.

Try not to head to a tile that is too crowded; desync can potentially cause your bean to be shoved off the map. If you have no choice but to remain on a crowded tile, try to jump over everyone else to position yourself in the centre-most of the tile. If you know that multiple safe tiles are next to each other, you can stand in the gap in-between them with impunity to avoid the desync pushing.

Variations

Perfect Deathmatch

Good luck. This version ramps up the difficulty significantly; you not only have to watch for any griefers, you also have to watch for the spinning beam and the fruit tiles, all at the same time.

To cheese it, attempt to bounce on the center of the rotating beam, but it is very likely that other players will attempt the same strategy.

Additionally, the corners of the map are safe from the rotating beam, so you can stay there while you memorize the fruit. Be especially wary of griefers if you use this strategy, since you can be easily pushed off if you're not careful.

Desync is also potentially a huge killer here, as beans that are knocked by the beams can be flung into you, knocking you off despite you being apparently safe. Try to position yourself out of their way.

Fruit Cannons

This variant is not as bad as it seems. Memorize the fruit on the tiles while try the ignore the distracting, incoming fruit shot from the cannons.

Pegwin

You know what to do. YEET THE PEGWIN! Or save him.

Known Bugs

All The Same Tiles*
As of 2 February 2021: Inexplicably, every tile may bug out and flash the same fruit(watermelon). At this point it becomes an actual guessing game as to which tiles are the safe ones, as they are not actually all the same fruit.
Stuck Fruit*
As of unknown date: Sometimes when fruit cannons are active, Fruits may go in tiles when they are falling. This mostly happens with Bananas.
The Safe Corner Tile*
As of 15 September 2022: Bizarrely, the lowest left corner tile (as seen from the intro camera sequence) is always correct. This is easily exploitable by either waiting on that tile, or noting the object displayed on that tile and then note the other safe tiles to stand on.
This bug has been fixed with the release of Season 3.
Invisible Tiles*
As of 7 March 2023: The Perfect Deathmatch variant will have invisible tiles that players can stand on for the whole duration of the round. No fruit tiles appear in the screen either.
Respawn*
As of unknown date: If players fall off the course too far, they will not be eliminated and respawn back to the course. This issue will more appear in the perfect deathmatch variant as the standard variants are impossible to do this.

*This name is a conjectural name and has not been somewhat uniformly agreed upon.
